Acupuncture is basically one finger in the hand of Oriental Medicine. Within acupuncture treatment, an acupuncturist may choose to utilize various adjunctive techniques, which depends on your condition. These may include:
  • Russian Micro Stimulation: Similar to Electro-acupuncture, but the wave form and the use of two specific frequencies that stimulate healing and balance of tissues.
  • Electro-acupuncture: The acupuncture needles are stimulated with an electric charge delivered from a machine. This is used often and effectively in patients dealing with pain.
  • Far Infra-red (TDP) Heating Lamps: Provide a deep heat to enhance circulation. This is used often in patients who are dealing with cold or stagnant conditions such as certain types of abdominal cramps.
  • Cupping: Involves the use of glass or plastic cups which are placed on the body with suction to help remove toxins and muscle tension. They are used often in patients with immune issues such as a cold as well as for pain.
  • Tuina or Acupressure: This is a massage that is targeted towards the meridians and acupuncture points. It is used for a wide variety of conditions.
  • Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine (TCM): This is a highly complex system of diagnosis and treatment using medicinal herbs used to support the body's healing after an Oriental Medicine diagnosis has been made. The goal is to provide strength and balance so the body can heal itself completely.
  • Homeopathy: A system of therapy based on the concept that disorders can be treated with remedies (in minute doses) thought capable of producing the same symptoms at a much higher dose in healthy people as the disorder itself. Sometimes symptoms are the body's way of fighting imbalances and sometimes merely draining toxicity is needed, which Homeopathy excels at.
